Jacques Vanier  earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees at Clarkson University. He was born and raised in Malone, New York, and has been a local resident for five years.

He currently serves as director of manufacturing for Alcoa’s North American Extrusions, and has worked in this field for 27 years.

As a board member, his goal is be part of working to keep Lafayette a great place to live. “I want Lafayette to build on the legacy of planning and infrastructure development that has seen a major new source of jobs enter the community every 10 years.”

His strengths, he says, are “Business acumen and a clear understanding, based on my experience with high unemployment in northern New York, of the importance of community involvement in developing an environment that attracts businesses and jobs.”
