Free Franchise Seminar March 2

Thinking about self-employment? Franchising may be the way to go. Learn more about costs, kinds of businesses, benefits and other details at a free seminar, Tuesday, March 2, at Greater Lafayette Commerce, 337 Columbia, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Hosted by Greater Lafayette Commerce, the program will be presented by Jim Gleeson of FranNet.

“The session will help match a person’s capabilities and abilities with a franchise company that will suit them,” says Jerry Holsapple at Greater Lafayette Commerce. “Part of that is the financial resources needed. There are a wide range of amounts, and not all terribly expensive.”

The kinds of businesses available through franchises are vast, from window washing to landscaping, plumbing—almost any service you can think of,” he says. “Franchisors offer the formula for the best way to do it.”

Franchising also is a good way to bring expertise to a business that an owner/operator may not already have, Holsapple says. “The franchisor has the business model, procedures and experience that should benefit the business owner.”

One example: a cookie business. “You may be a great bookkeeper, but a lousy cookie maker. The cookie franchise company would provide the formula for a good product.”

This is the third time Greater Lafayette Commerce has hosted a free session on franchising. About 50 people attended one already.
